PALLET CITY @ the FIGMENT Terrace on Governors Island, NYC:

Been thinking a lot about the City College School of Architecture's history... very diverse, rich, and eventful past with lots of connections to current events and the world's greatest city.  Oh yeah, also my alma matre for grad school.  This is one of the 'grotesques' from George B. Post's gothic masterpiece, Shepard Hall.

Check out this awesome past exhibit at Smack Mellon Gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn.  (Great gallery btw... awesome space and cool artwork consistently.)

I came across this pickup truck in Park Slope last week and was amazed by the idea of a nano-garden in the back of a truck.  Just think of the possibilities of growing small gardens wherever you can find the space.  Of course, there's also the implication that this particular garden is nomadic, which not only means it could change from lot to lot, but also from climate to climate.  It is also an interesting commentary on neutralizing the carbon footprint of automobiles.  Props.

I came across this shipping pallet structure on Union Street (Brooklyn) just by the Gowanus Canal.  It's called Spacefiller by artist Charles Goldman.  Check out his work and the way he uses these simple modules of industrial found materials to create spacial interventions.  Then go out and find yourself a couple shipping pallets and try it yourself!
